DTE Plans to Reopen Admissions for Engineering Courses

DTE i.e. Directorate of Technical Education is planning to re-open admission because a lot of seats are still vacant.
This year the engineering courses did not perform well as out of the huge number of seats i.e 1,35,000 only 70,953 are filled.
For the remaining 64,047, DTE wants to open the admissions and wants to conduct the counselling again.
An approval will be required by the State government so, DTE can conduct the admissions again but the admissions will only be open for students who missed the counsellings or for some reason were disqualified.

DTE’s Joint Director Dayanand Meshram said that they have a lot of vacant seats available even after the third round of counselling and they want to give another chance to students who missed the first round.
He also said that there is no rule regarding reopening admissions under the Maharashtra Unaided Private Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions and Fees) Act and they hope that the state government gives them the nod of approval to reopen admissions and allow them to admit new students.
The dates for the procedure will be finalised only after the approval from the state government is given.

The third round of counselling was closed on Monday i.e 18th July’ 16 and admission were closed but the DTE is conducting the fourth round for students who has already registered themselves for counselling and will be allowed to make changes to their preference. The fourth round is scheduled to take place on 26th July’ 16.
