Delhi University Asks Colleges to Reissue Merit List
Many students who scored similar or high marks compared to the required cut-off did not find their names in the DU merit list.
The authorities of the Delhi University have directed colleges under it to re-issue the merit list. The directive was issued as a number of students complained of confusion for the required cut-off. Delhi University colleges issued their own merit lists on 27-July-2016. By the time the final merit list was published, the application process for admissions in most colleges was already over. The admissions had to take place on 28th July and 29-July-2016.

Ms. Suman Sharma - Principal, Lady Shri Ram College confirmed receiving instructions from the university. She said that since this is the first time that the University of Delhi has adopted the online admission process, there were bound to be some lapses. He also assured that the admission process will be completely streamlined for the next academic session of 2017 - 2018.
Many students who scored similar or higher marks compared to the required cut-off, did not find their names in the DU merit list. A student with 95% at Kirori Mal College did not find her name in the merit list, whereas students with 93-94% were asked to apply for admission. Similar problems occurred in other colleges in DU.

Some of the colleges opined that the problem occurred due to incorrect data provided by the University and because of a sheer volume of applications. The data provided by the university has several discrepancies.
In 2016, the university also allowed the students who have already taken admission to re-apply for the other colleges without withdrawing their names.
The merit list will be released by the colleges on 30-July-2016. The candidates need to get their certificates verified by 3-August-2016. The final merit list will be out on 3-August-2016.
