GATE 2026 Registration: Instructions to upload photo and signature, required dimensions and size
Candidates who are planning to fill out the GATE application form 2026 should follow the instructions for uploading the signature and photograph. Unless the candidates follow the guidelines, the authority might reject the GATE application form 2026.
GATE 2026 Registration: IIT Guwahati will commence the GATE 2026 registration process today, August 28, 2025. To participate in the GATE 2026 registration process, the candidates should visit the official website- gate2026.iitg.ac.in, create a GOAPS portal and log in to their accounts. The last date of GATE registration without a late fee is September 28, 2025 . However, if the candidates fail to submit the application form before the last date, then they will be allowed to submit it by October 9, 2025, with a late fee. Before submitting the GATE application form, the candidates should pay Rs 1000 as registration fees; whereas the fee is higher for foreign nationals, that is, Rs 2000.
GATE 2026 Registration: Instructions to upload photo and signature
Candidates can refer to the following instructions that should be followed while uploading the photograph and signature. Uploading a wrong photograph or signature will lead to the rejection of the GATE application form 2026.
Photograph Requirements:
- Upload a good-quality and coloured photograph of passport-sized photograph, where 60-70% candidate’s face should be visible. The size of the passport photograph should be 3.5 cm width × 4.5 cm height
- The background of the photograph should be white, and there should not be any other persons or objects
- Format of the photograph should be only JPEG/JPG
- Do not click the photograph wearing goggles, caps, or hats. Normal spectacles for vision correction in the photograph are allowed
- The photograph should be taken in front face, looking directly into the camera
- Do not click a photo wearing a head covering (except for religious reasons)
Signature Specifications:
- Upload the signature only in JPEG/ JPG format. The ideal height and width of the signature should be 1:R; where the value of R should be between 2.75 and 3.75
- Signature should be done only in black or dark blue colour
- File size should be between 3 KB and 1 MB
- The maximum and minimum pixel resolution needs to be 580X180 pixels and 250X80 pixels, respectively
- If the signature of the candidates is not matched with the signature at examination time, then the candidature will be disqualified
