The Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, Dr Alak Kumar Buragohain recently delivered a lecture on ‘Education Pedagogy and Choice-Based credit System (CBCS)’ for the teaching fraternity of MDK Girl’s College wherein he spoke on various topics like teaching methods, curriculum, syllabus, assessment and importance of teaching communicative English to students.
The programme was attended by all the faculty members of the college. The members shared views on current education system and the different challenges faced by teachers were also discussed in the meeting. Dr Alak Kumar Buragohain in the meeting, focused on the current semester system and the recently introduced CBCS. He stated that the UGC had brought out guidelines for the introduction of CBCS in institutions for graduation.
In addition, Dr Buragohain also gave suggestions for mobilisation of human resources and pointed out girls’ education in the science stream as a must in the society. He also proposed inclusion of various courses in the college curriculum and said that loopholes of the semester system could be removed by accepting CBCS as it would offer more opportunities for developing teaching capability of the faculty members. Measures were suggested on a common platform wherein various academic problems as well as challenges were discussed.
