ICSE Brings Changes in Syllabus, Introduces Harry Potter & Sherlock Holmes Books in Curriculum
Students can expect changes in the 2017 ICSE curriculum to come into effect from the next academic session, i.e., 2017-18.
The Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has announced that from the academic session 2018, the students who are pursuing education from pre-school to Class 8 have to follow the curriculum prescribed by ICSE Board. Gerry Arathoon, Chief Executive and Secretary of CISCE made the announcement.
Earlier, the board had prescribed syllabus only for class IX to XII. Most of the schools followed NCERT textbooks for junior classes to class VIII. The curriculum which has been prepared by board exclusively for pre-school to class 8 was released on November 22, 2016 at the 59thannual conference of the Association of Schools for the Indian School Certificate (ASISC).

Arathoon also announced that the revised syllabus for Class 12 - ISC and Class 10 - ICSE will be applicable from 2018 academic session onwards. The changes in the syllabus have been made in the subjects ofGeography, Physics, Mathematics, Civics and History.
The good news is that CISCE has introduced some very popular books into the curriculum like Harry Potter series as well as Sherlock Holmes series to be implemented from the next academic session, i.e., 2017-18. The initiative was taken to meet international standards of education. This decision taken by CISCE is expected to take education to the next level.
