IEEMA and DTU Sign MoU to Strengthen Industry: Academia Collaboration
DTU and IEEMA signed an MoU to boost industry-academia collaboration in electrical and electronics. This aims to bridge the skill gap, offering students market-relevant skills in areas like clean energy and power electronics. It includes joint research, startup mentorship, and better professional development.
IEEMA and DTU Sign MoU to Strengthen Industry:The Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA) and Delhi Technological University (DTU) signed a MoU to strengthen academia and industrial collaboration in the electronics and electrical sector. The MoU was signed by Charu Mathur, Director General, IEEMA, and Binod Doley, Registrar, DTU, on behalf of these two institutes in Delhi. The primary aim of the MoU was to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Since engineers have moved towards the software roles, the strong industrial exposure during college can develop self-reliance in core sectors. Academia plays a major role to experiment and gaining knowledge from failure. In turn, the engineers who will join the private sector and R&D sector will drive better outcomes. As a result, constant industrial engagement will enable the students to shape better professionals.
Under the Industry-Academia Engagement Initiative, the MoU between DTU and IEEMA aims to institutionalize a long-term partnership. In turn, the students will have a greater opportunity to upgrade their industrial insights into the academic programs, so that they can be equipped with the market-relevant skills across the high-growth areas such as digital grids, clean energy, power electronics, and sustainable materials. Beyond their education, the alliance will strengthen their joint research and startup mentorship, and policy advocacy for aligning with the national goals.
The Joint Working Group of IEEMA and DTU experts will now oversee the partnership. For the same, there will be a bi-annual meeting, so that they can take a follow-up on the approval of action plans and supervise the progress on the collaboration measurement goals. The alliance refers to a new national blueprint for practice-based engineering education. The alignment with the National Education Policy targets to serve catalyst for the energy transition and manufacturing excellence of India.
