<p>Thanks to IITs students of APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University UP will now be able to take online classes of different branches of the Indian Institute of Technology with the help of National Programme of Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL).
The move will benefit around 4 lakh students in 639 colleges of the APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University.
The NPTEL portal has courses from premier institutions including IITs Kanpur, Bombay, Delhi, Madras and several other premier Institutes.
A student needs to register and take online classes. Also, students will be given certificate by IIT for the short-term courses which range from 10-20 hours are of engineering skills and technology.
Not only that, student also can pursue these courses sitting at home. They can make use of their smart phones to download the audio-visual lectures and study material which will help them learning. All registered students will have to complete the course within stipulated time.
After completion of course, students will have to appear for a test. Once the student qualifies the test, IITs will certify the students.
There are 930 courses in the University, of which 80% are related to science and engineering and some courses from humanities too. Videos are available for 500 courses.
"We are also exploring possibility of collaboration with NPTEL for preparation of new video and web courses, tailored according to the needs of our students and preparation of transcriptions of existing video courses of NPTEL in Hindi,'' said VC of the University.
