Indian Students Can Study in UK with No Visa Restrictions: British Envoy

The announcement was made by Dominic Asquith, Britain High Commissioner during the launch of High Level Panel of UN Secretary General on Women’s Economic Empowerment report in India.

Now, Indian students can pursue education in the United Kingdom with no cap on visas. The British High Commissioner stated that the Indian students can visit the UK to pursue higher studies and the British government announced 600 scholarships for Indian students who wish to study in the UK. The commissioner further mentioned that students from various countries come to the UK to pursue studies and the country is bestowed with excellent institutions.

The announcement was made by Dominic Asquith, Britain High Commissioner during the launch of High-Level Panel of UN Secretary-General on Women’s Economic Empowerment report in India. As per the visa policy of United Kingdom, the students must return home after the completion of the course and the policy of the government led to a fall in the number of Indian students taking up higher studies in the United Kingdom. Therefore, India requested the Britain government to relax the visa rules. In the few years, the number of visas issued to students has been fallen drastically.

The British High Commissioner further indicated that with an objective to promote skills, UK has been participating in various initiatives with the Indian government. The UK government is planning to invest in 75 startups and provide financial services to women. He further revealed that the British government is spending seven percent from its revenue on training Indian students in various skills.

He confirmed that there would be no cap on visas for Indian students as well as students from other countries. He stated that Indian students will have the ultimate freedom to pursue education in the UK.
