INI CET Counselling January 2026 Round 2 is for candidates who selected “Option 2” in Round 1. No new choices are needed as seat upgradation occurs automatically based on previous preferences. Failing to join an upgraded Round 2 seat incurs a Rs 3 lakh penalty.
INI CET Counselling January 2026: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi will commence the INI CET January 2026 Round 2 counselling process shortly after the completion of Round 1 on the official website ie, aiimsexams.ac.in. Only candidates who selected “Option 2” accept the allotted seat but wish to participate in Round 2 counseling during the Round 1 choice-filling process are eligible to take part in the second round, based on merit order.
Candidates who are allotted an upgraded seat in Round 2 must report and complete the admission formalities within the prescribed timeline. Failure to do so will result in a penalty of Rs 3 lakh imposed by the counselling authority.

Here are the important instructions that should be followed by the candidates who are willing to participate in round 2.
- Candidates are not required to fill in any new choices during the Round 2 counselling process.
- Seat upgradation will be carried out by the authority based on the preferences submitted earlier.
- Once a seat is upgraded in Round 2, the seat allotted in Round 1 will be treated as vacated and will be automatically offered to other candidates according to merit.
- Candidates who fail to join the seat allotted in Round 2 will be liable to pay a penalty of Rs 3 lakh.
- The option to refuse the allotted seat is not available, and candidates are solely responsible for the choices they have made.
Candidates claiming admission under constitutional reservation categories must produce valid supporting documents at the time of reporting to the respective INIs while submitting their original certificates. If a candidate is unable to provide a valid reservation certificate, their claim to the reserved seat will be cancelled. Additionally, OBC and EWS certificates must be valid for admission to Central Government institutions.
