ITI Admission May Go Offline This Session

The offline process for the admissions of ITI may follow for this session in the sate.

Directorate of Vocational Education and Training is moving away from the online mode of admission to the offline process.

Apart from past online mode process, now for this year the state may shift back to the older process.

A demand, especially from Amravati and Nagpur districts, is made to make admissions offline. In 2014, the DVET received 1.2 lakh applications, which increase to 1.45 lakh in 2015.

As ITI promise a job just after completion of the course most of the students are aiming for it. Also,Government of Maharashtra promises many facilities for students taking admissions to ITI.

After the entrance test, the DVET conducts centralised admissions for candidates across the state. Last year, private colleges, too, were a part of this centralised admission process.

Online admission allows students to sit in one place and apply to 900 ITIs spread across Maharashtra.

Most of the students aim for the Government ITI.

That will change, though, if the offline process is adopted. Under the offline method, a student from Gondwana or Latur will not be able to simultaneously apply to a college in Pune and a college near their hometown. For, the admission process will be on across the state at the same time, and students will have to report to admission centres in their area.

Apart from inconveniencing students, the process will also put a strain on the faculty.

The offline process will also involve a large number of college staff members, who should be working with students and helping them revise for the upcoming exams.

This will need a large number of staff to carry out the process and can make it difficult for both students and staff.

Some students are happy about this decision as most of the students taking admission in ITI are from rural area where they find it very hard to apply through online process.
