JEE Main Rank List Awaited by 11 Lakh Aspirants

JEE Main Rank List that will be announced today on 23rd June 2016 will decide the future of 11 lakh students. Aspirants have been waiting for the list ever since the JEE Advanced results for 2016 were announced.

A lot depends on the JEE Main rank list as various colleges across the country conduct their admissions as per the rank of students on the list. Among these colleges are Indian Institutes of Information and Technology (IIITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Government-Funded Technical Institutions (GFTIs).

In 2016, more than 11 lakh aspirants appeared for JEE Mains out of which 60,000 were from Kota. The exam was conducted in both online (May 3) and offline (May 9-10) format in 124 cities across the country.

Kota being the student attraction for IIT-JEE coaching, got a large number of qualifiers in JEE Main as well as JEE Advanced examinations and will probably have a large number of students in today’s list as well.

JEE Main rank list is prepared by normalising the test score with Class 12 marks having weightages 60% and 40% respectively.

Most of the all-India ranks in various categories of JEE-Advanced 2016 were grabbed by coaching institutes in Kota. Up to 40,000 students from Kota coaching institutes qualified JEE Main 2016 and appeared for JEE Advanced exam.

The JEE rank list decides whether the students are going to get admissions to their desired colleges with the branch of their preference of not.

Rakesh Kumar from Bharatpur cleared the JEE Advanced 2016 but could not secure a rank good enough to get his preferred branch in any of the IITs. He said that his score in the JEE Main ranks list will decide if he can get most desired branches like computer science or mechanical engineering in a premier NIT institute.

JEE Main rank list is expected to be declared today. Joint counselling will begin on June 24 for 34,781 seats in 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 20 IIITs and 18 GFTIs offering 629 courses.
