Motilal Nehru Institute offered 1392 degrees in its convocation

The 12th convocation of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) Allahabad was held at the institute campus

On the occasion, the chief guest of the convocation was Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) Atul Sobti, who is an alumni of MNNIT. “"Transformation in product and services by leveraging the framework of 'Make in India' can be a key success enabler", said Sobti while addressing the crowd.

While delivering the convocation address on the theme entering the bright spot, he highlighted the fact that India is emerging as a bright spot while the youth of the nation is the crucial enablers. He shared with the students that recent policy reforms and ease of doing business initiative of Government of India has improved business scenario in the country.

Sobti shared that he is spearheading the 'Make in India', initiatives at BHEL which has made, revolutionary contribution to the power and capital goods sector in India. He infused the students to think big and embrace uncertainties, for a successful tomorrow. He stressed on the importance of striking a balance between work and personal life and suggested the students to pursue their hobbies as well.

Prof P Chakrabarti, Director, MNNIT,distributed 1392 degrees consisting of 808 BTech, 333 MTech, 84 MCA, 59 MBA, 15 MSc, 8 MSW, students and 85 Ph.D. scholars including 57 students under DASA and 14 foreign students under ICCR and Ministry of External Affairs. 62 Institute Gold Medals were given, including 9 Gold Medals to graduate students, 30 Gold Medals to postgraduate students and three Gold Medals to undergraduate students. 17 Gold Medals sponsored by alumni, faculty and family of former faculty members along with two Gold Medals sponsored by TCS for meritorious students were also awarded.

The Gold Medal for Institute Topper was given by the chief guest to Mayank Mittal of Electronics and Communication Engineering while Saumya Pandey was conferred with Gold medal for being the topper of Electrical engineering. She was also the second overall topper of the institute.
