NEET PG 2025 Counselling Delay, Massive Data Leak Worry Students
NEET PG 2025 counselling is on hold, students are worried about admissions. Over 1.3 lakh candidates’ personal data has reportedly been leaked online.
NEET PG 2025 Counselling Delay: The NEET PG 2025 counselling process has been significantly delayed, leaving thousands of medical aspirants anxious. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), so far, hasn’t activated the All India Quota (AIQ) counselling, even two months after the results were announced. This delay is affecting students' academic schedules and creating uncertainty about the admission procedure.
The key factor behind the delay is the waiting for the approvals from the National Medical Commission (NMC) for a new medical college and increased MD/MS seats for the academic year 2025–26. Certain Supreme Court cases seeking more transparency from the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) have also caused the delay.
In addition to these, there is also a huge data leak that has emerged. Details of more than 1.38 lakh NEET PG 2025 candidates, such as names, roll numbers, scores, and contacts, are being sold online, it is said. The data is being sold anywhere between Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 8,500.
Some students have also received unsolicited calls and messages from Admission Consultants who pretend to sell MD/MS seats. It has created a serious question about the safety and integrity of the counselling system. It is felt by many aspirants that their privacy is breached.
The NBEMS denied the liability for the leak, suggesting it could have happened in the process of counselling. This lack of liability, though, created outrage among students and medics, who insist on enhanced protection for data.
Candidates have demanded that the Union Health Minister make the counselling schedule public as early as possible so that their academic year is not further disturbed. It is still evolving, and candidates are waiting for updates regarding both the counselling process as well as for the resolution of the data breach.
