One Day Workshop on Infertility by PMCH @ SURAT

A workshop on infertility and its reasons in women was organized at Surat.Prof. (Dr.) K. R. Sharma (Infertility Specialist) from PMCH (Pacific Medical College & Hospital) addressed medical students at Surat, in a workshop, with many other specialist of infertility. He also told the reason behind unwanted facial hair in females and told that the reason is increasing Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.

This PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) is an imbalance of hormones in body which can be controlled and thus affects the fertility positively. He said that the imbalance of testosterone hormones in women causes many problems. PCOS has been the major reason of infertility in women these days.

What Is PCOS?

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common hormonal disorder among women of reproductive age. Infertility is one of the most common PCOS symptoms. Because the symptoms of PCOS are seemingly unrelated to one another, the condition is often overlooked and undiagnosed.

PCOS Symptoms

Irregular or missing menstrual periods. Infertility. Excess or unwanted body or facial hair growth. Thinning hair on the scalp. Weight problems, often including weight gain around the waist. Skin problems, including skin tags, darkening skin and acne etc.

Complications of PCOS

Diabetes, Elevated insulin levels or insulin resistance, Heart and blood vessel problems, Uterine cancer, Sleep apnea etc.

PCOS Treatments:

Birth control pills to regulate menstruation, Insulin-sensitizing medications, Ovulation induction to treat infertility, Androgen-blocking medications, Topical anti-hair-growth medications, Other excess hair treatments, Treatments for hair loss, Acne treatments, Removal of other skin problems etc.
