PG Students' Online Classes to Help in Getting Grade

From this academic session postgraduate students across the country in different stream from any university will be able to take a few classes online and get the credits transferred to their parent university.
Students can now take modules of the paper online and all the marks obtained at the end of the tutorial can be converted to grades which the university will accept.
The e-Content for six disciplines has been prepared by the Centre for E-learning at Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, Delhi University. The content would be submitted to the University Grants Commission (UGC) soon. Once the e-content is approved it will then be hosted on the government Massive Open Online Course (MOOC’s) platform Swayam.
Students pursuing Commerce, Chemistry, Economics, Forensic Science and Psychology will be able to opt for the online course in the first phase. These papers have been prepared by professors from across the country and the final online content with multimedia aspects have been put together at the e-learning centre.
AK Bakshi, chairman of the centre while giving the information said that for the six disciplines there are 96 papers that have been prepared. To prepare the content several academics, technical staff have worked day and night. The content that has been prepared is a mixture of interactive videos, crosswords and discussion forum. It is not jut reading material.
“ Because of this online platform, higher education will be accessible to those who cannot be a part of the regular colleges. The content will test students with both subjective and objective questions available through the online platform,” said Bakshi.
While talking about the time period of the course Vimal Rarh, deputy director at the centre said that Students will take proctored examination after which the credit can be transferred to the University. But the students who opt for this course will have to complete it in the definite timeframe.
Through Swayam Regulation, 2016,UGC has also passed a credit framework for online learning courses that was passed at a recent meeting of the Commission.
