After Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan is the state that has the largest number of students who have qualified JEE-Advanced in 2016. The state has the second largest pool of JEE qualifiers this year. Out of the 36,566 students that were declared qualified for IIT counseling in Rajasthan, 12.49% are domicile students.

Uttar Pradesh fared first having bagged 14.82% of the total students who qualified JEE Main. Other states among the top are Maharashtra with 8.85% and Bihar with 7.42% of the total students who qualified the exam.

An Official of JEE Advanced exam also said that Rajasthan has performed phenomenally well this year and students from all boards like RBSE, CBSE, ICSE and IB have scored well. He also said that many of the successful students were from rural areas and Hindi medium background.

Rajasthan’s performance is a result of CBSE schools in state that impart quality education. According to experts the schools have generated a healthy competition that has led to mass selections from Rajasthan at national level competitive exams such as IITs, NEET and AIIMS.

Damodar Goyal, member of Society for Private Unaided School in Rajathan said that performance in JEE Advanced has improved since the schools have adopted an integrated system in order to mentor students for IITs. With a system in place students find it easier to take up competitive exams.

In 2016, three students from the top 10 rankers of JEE Advanced are from CBSE schools including JEE Advanced topper Aman Bansal. Students in Rajasthan have been consistently securing good ranks for the past three to four years in exams like IIT (Main and Advanced), NEET and AIIMS exam. As per the analysis 12 students from Rajasthan secured positions within top 100 in JEE Advanced out of which seven were from Jaipur and four from Kota.

As per the state board-wise rating, Rajasthan secured the third spot. Telangana leads this list and Maharashtra was second. Selection from the CBSE board were maximum with 53.47% of the total students that were listed in JEE Rank list passed from CBSE board.

B L Choudhary, Chairman of RBSE, said, "The data reiterates our claim that RBSE is one of the toughest boards in the country. The fact that our toppers of Class XII science stream got selected in IITs further proves the transparency of our evaluation system."

RBSE is planning to put up the proposal to conduct an aptitude test in the early classes so that filtering students who want to opt science becomes simpler. A board official said, "The whole idea is to increase the number of students opting for science so that the output in terms of engineers and doctors can increase."
