Science Students can now Study Commerce in GU

The science students who are willing to pursue further studies in commerce would now be allowed to do so in the Gujrat University (GU). Another decision that the university has made is that all the admissions to the under graduate and post graduate courses would be done online.

In the words of GU vice-chancellor M N Patel, “During the meeting it was decided that science students would be allowed to join commerce stream, but they would have to do a bridge course which would be organized by the GU for such students."

Till now the science students were permitted to take admission in Arts faculty other than science. The GU took the decision to open commerce stream once it realized that there were over 10,000 more students in HSC Science Stream this year who had appeared for examination and this number could lead to admission issues.

According to the GU officials the university has taken the decision that the admission to Bachelor and Master of Science, Commerce and even Arts would be centralized and done online. Till now the admission to Arts was done directly by the colleges. In addition to these the GU has also taken the decision that the admission to the five year integrated courses including Master of Business Administration, Master of Computer Administration, Integrated law and three year Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Computer Administration would also be online. The officials further stated that the students would be required to fill only one form for all the commerce and five year integrated course and the BCA and BBA.
