Special TN TET 2026 Application Form to be Released This Month; Exam in January

TRB Special TNTET 2026 Notification Released Application Form Soon: The Tamil Nadu Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) has released the special notification for the application and exam schedule of the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test 2026. The application for the examination is likely to start from the 4th week of November 2025. Candidates can apply online from the official website, and the exam will be held in January 2026. As per the latest notification released by TRB, Paper I is scheduled on January 24 and Paper II on January 25, 2026 . This special exam is mainly aimed at in-service teachers who have yet to qualify and those seeking eligibility to teach Classes I to Class VIII in government and aided schools.

This special TET session is being held following a Supreme Court ruling , which required pre-service teachers to clear the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) within a stipulated period of time to continue in their jobs or become eligible for promotions. Tamil Nadu Government to conduct TET three times in 2026 - TN TET in January, July, and December 2026 . Owing to the increase in the number of aspirants for the TET, the Tamil Nadu government has taken a decision to hold the TET 3 times in 2026.

Eligibility Criteria for Special TNTET 2026

The candidates should fulfill the educational and age limit criteria prescribed by TRB Tamil Nadu.

• For Paper I: The candidates should have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) with D.El.Ed or its equivalent.

• For Paper II: The candidates should have a Bachelor's Degree (B.A./B.Sc./B.Com.) with B.Ed or Equivalent.

• Students in the final year of D.El.Ed / B.Ed course can also apply.

• There is no upper age limit for TNTET 2026

Candidates may soon apply online at the official website of TRB Tamil Nadu by following the procedure mentioned below

Step 1: Go to the official site trb.tn.gov.in

Step 2: Click on the TNTET 2026: Special Exam Application link

Step 3: Sign up with Email ID and Mobile Number

Step 4: Enter your personal information, your educational information, your contact information, and other details.

Step 5: Submit all required documents, photographs, and signatures.

Step 6: Pay the application fee online.

Step 7: Submit the form and print the confirmation page for your records.

Application Fee Details for Special TNTET 2026

Applicants should submit the requisite application fee online through debit/credit card or net banking.

• General / OBC Candidates: Rs. 500

• For SC/ST/PwD Candidates: Rs. 250

• The fee will not be refunded under any condition.

The exam will assess the candidates’ knowledge of child development, pedagogy, and the subject as per the latest NCERT and Tamil Nadu syllabus norms. The TRB is likely to issue detailed instructions, eligibility norms, and exam pattern with the notification by the end of November 2025.
