Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) Tirupat i has collaborated with Harvard Global Health Institute (HGHI) for mutual collaboration in the field of healthcare. Director of SVIMS, Mr. TS Ravikumar visited HGHI from July 17 to 19, 2018. He discussed various aspects with the officials of HGHI and figured out areas for cooperation.

During the meeting, a decision was taken to incorporate new ideas into the upcoming interaction of Harvard X MOOC (Massive Online Open Course) of “Improving Global Health through Quality”. The online course will be available to all students and healthcare providers in India. SVIMS Director has submitted a proposal for another area of collaboration for the development of National Patient Safety Cell.

Director of HGHI, Professor Ashish Jha hailed the proposal submitted by SVIMS and enhanced the expertise of Harvard in churning out a robust patient safety programme. The other area of collaboration that SVIMS and HGHI planning to focus was, Population Health, and both the institutes will develop longitudinal population cohorts. The initiative will give a multi-decade understanding of disease transitions in the population of India.

The Population Science project that will be taken up by SVIMS and HGHI will have both Indian and Harvard team.

The collaboration will aim to provide better healthcare services in the region. The collaborative projects of SVIMS and HGHI will give a boost to research initiatives in the field of healthcare.
