Tamil Nadu School Holiday Update 2 December 2025; Schools leave announced

After the heavy rains scenario on December 1, Tamil Nadu School Holiday has been announced on 2 December 2025 as well. Here is the list of districts where a school holiday has been announced. 

Tamil Nadu School Holiday Update 2 December 2025:Cyclone Ditwah made landfall on November 30, which might improve the weather conditions in Tamil Nadu after December 1. However, there is a chance for heavy rains in at least 6 districts till the early hours of December 1 and 2. The Government of Tamil Nadu declared a holiday for all schools on November 28 due to heavy rains. IMD predicted rains in Tamil Nadu till December 2. As there was a chance for heavy rains in a few districts of Tamil Nadu till December 1, a decision on school holiday has been taken for Puducherry and Karikal regions. Tiruvallur, Cuddalore, Ranipettai, Chennai, Kancheepuram and Ramananthapuram are under alert for heavy rains till the night of December 1 and early hours of December 2.

  • December 1, 2025 | 1:05 PM IST |Parents criticise the TN Government for not declaring a holiday for schools in Chennai on December 1 despite heavy rain.
  • December 1, 2025 | 7:06 AM IST |No school holiday announced. The cyclone has weakened, and there are no heavy rains in any district
  • December 1, 2025 | 6:38 AM IST |Till 6:30 AM today, no holiday announcement has come for any other district. Only Puducherry and Karikal have school holiday as of now
  • December 1, 2025 | 6:10 AM IST |Vellore, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Ranipettai, Chennai and Kancheepuram are under 'Orange Alert' as per IMD today, December 1. However, there is no official announcement of the school holiday as of 6 AM
  • December 1, 2025 | 6:02 AM IST |No holiday for the Chennai region as the rains have come down. The government is proceeding with the Group 1 Mains and Police DSP exam in Chennai
  • December 1, 2025 | 5:59 AM IST |No holiday announcement for other districts has been made till 6 AM today. In Andhra Pradesh, Nellore, Kadapa, Tirupati and Annamayya districts will have school holiday

Tamil Nadu School Holiday 1 December 2025; District-wise schools leave possibility

Here is the district-wise possibility of Tamil Nadu School Holiday on 1 December 2025 -

For other districts, the chances of school holiday are nil as the weather conditions are improving. District collectors will assess the weather conditions during the night of November 30 and early hours of December 1 to decide on announcing the holiday for schools. In the neighbouring state, Andhra Pradesh, school holiday has been announced for December 1 in Tirupati and Annamayya districts due to heavy rains.
