Telangana NEET PG Aspirants approach HC over 85 Percent Reservation in Management Quota: Hundreds of postgraduate medical aspirants from Telangana have moved the state High Court, upset by the government’s failure to challenge an interim order that halted the 85 percent local reservation in the management quota for PG medical seats. The petitioners say the delay is jeopardising the current counselling schedule and leaving many candidates in limbo.

The High Court issued the interim stay last month, suspending the implementation of the 85 percent local reservation that was meant to apply to the management quota (MQ‑1) for admissions in Telangana’s medical colleges. The reservation had been introduced through Government Orders 200 and 201, dated 3 November 2025, but the court’s November 21 ruling temporarily blocked those orders.

Representatives of the aspirants told the media that the state has not filed any appeal or counter‑affidavit despite the urgency of the situation. “We are losing precious time because counselling is already underway, and the government’s inaction is disappointing,” they said. They added that the lack of a decisive legal response is affecting thousands of students who are waiting for a clear admission pathway.

Earlier, the group had written to senior health officials and met the Health Minister, urging the administration to take immediate legal action. They emphasized that a strong, fact‑based reply to the court was essential to protect the interests of local candidates.

The petitioners are now pressing the High Court to lift the stay, arguing that the state’s silence undermines the reservation policy and creates uncertainty for both students and institutions. They hope the court will recognise the need for a prompt resolution before the next counselling round begins.

In the meantime, the aspirants continue to rally, demanding that the government act swiftly and file the necessary legal documents to restore the 85 percent reservation, ensuring that local postgraduate aspirants receive the seats they were promised. Their collective action highlights the broader impact of policy delays on medical education and underscores the urgent need for transparent, timely governmental intervention.
