Thiruvallur School and College Holiday Update 2 December 2025; Leave declared due to heavy rain

Thiruvallur School and College Holiday Update 2 December 2025: IMD has declared 'Red Alert' in the Thiruvallur district due to extremely heavy rain conditions. There has been constant rain since the early hours of December 1, and similar conditions are expected till the morning of December 2. As the district authorities did not decide on the school holiday on December 1, they received wide criticism from parents and students. Children struggled to reach school in the heavy rain. Chennai School Holiday on 2 December 2025 has already been announced, and the parents/ students felt a sign of relief after the announcement of the school and college holiday in the Thiruvallur district.

All schools and colleges in the Thiruvallur district will remain closed on December 2. The district collector has ordered the closure of educational institutes as a precautionary measure due to heavy rains. Considering the feedback received from parents, schools and IMD predictions, a decision on school holiday has been taken.

Cyclone Ditwah caused heavy rains in various parts of Tamil Nadu. Even though the Cyclone weakened into a 'deep depression', the rains did not stop in certain parts of Tamil Nadu. Chennai and Thiruvallur are the worst hit due to the current heavy rains. Traffic disruption and waterlogging can be seen in various parts of the district.

According to the IMD prediction, the rains might susidize by the morning of December 2, and there might be a sigh of relif for Chenni/ Thiruvallur regions. Schoolsand colleges will hopefully reopen on December 3 without any further holiday announcements.
