Thousands of candidates appear Common Entrance Test in Kashmir on 1-August-2016 despite ongoing unrest. The government made special transport arrangements for the candidates. Most of the candidates reached Srinagar a day advance for the examination. The students reached Srinagar early to avoid being caught up in clashes. There was also a curfew in some of the areas.

Insha a student said that she traveled for 120 km from Banihal to Srinagar. She left earlier as there were chances of crashes onto the valley side of the tunnel. She opined that social unrest has become a common task in the state.

The common entrance test took place in 17 examination centers across the state. A total number of 150 buses and 60 Tata Sumos have been deployed to take the students to the examination centers. Around 12,000 students attended CET.

The Additional Commissioner of Kashmir, Mr. Nisar Hussian mentioned that proper arrangements have been made so that students should not face any difficulties in reaching the examination center.

Most of the students who are aspiring for higher education in Kashmir are going to Rajasthan, Punjab, and other states to seek education. Education has suffered a huge setback in Kashmir since the outbreak of clashes.

Most of the parents are worried about the future of their children as most of the schools and colleges remain closed for a number of days due to social unrest. The government has announced the establishment of four new government schools and this could not be carried out due to the current situation.
