The members ofUniversity Grants Commission (UGC)recently presented a detailed view of how towns and cities are emerging as key drivers of economic growth and stressed upon the need for capacity building inUrban AdministrationandUrban Planningto thePrime Minister Narendra Modi.
In this spirit,UGCasked all the Universities and colleges all over India in a letter to add a subject onUrban Planningfrom the current academic year i.e. the academic year of 2016.
This idea was given out after the execution of the project ‘Smart City’ by the central government.
Vice-chancellors ofUniversity Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Jaspal Sandhuin his letter to the Universities and colleges of India said that it has been proposed that colleges and Universities should start a subject or course onUrban Planning. He also conveyed necessary instructions to the Universities, colleges, and institutes affiliated to the university to take urgent steps to start this subject or course at postgraduate level.
