UPES Dehradun Students Win Laurels at Inter College Sports Meet

The basketball boys team of UPES Dehradun displayed commendable grit and determination as they fought their way up the ranks and seized a shining and much deserved Gold at AVAHAN'16, the annual national sports meet of Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow. The sports meet was a much sought after event , as could be gathered from the enthusiasm of the participants who could sometimes be seen practicing in campus grounds, well past college hours.

Avahan'16, a four-day intense sports meet, witnessed participants from a number of Universities across India. Students engaged in competitive spirits as they fought against each other to snatch the first place in events like Basketball, Football, Badminton, and Volleyball, et cetera.

Participants from UPES were met with success in almost all the events they took part in. The girls team emerged victorious with a Bronze in Basketball while in Badminton we managed to secure the 4th position. Football and Volleyball also saw a laudable participation from both the teams, girls' and boys'. Our team of participants in Avahan'16 actively participated in the events, emerging , at the end of the day, famous and popular for their unwavering spirit.

The university provides excellent opportunities to the students to unwind and bring out their competitive spirit through inter-university, inter-district, state level, and national level tournaments and championships.

Activities and engagements beyond academics are an equally important aspect of the overall growth of an individual. The expansive campus of UPES also encompasses sports playgrounds and courts along with world class sports facilities and equipment which make fests like Avahan successful.
