VTU to Hold Annual Convocation on January 21
The major highlight of the convocation ceremony is that a total number of 27 students will be awarded VTU and endowment gold medals as well as cash prizes.
Visvesvaraya Technological University or VTU will hold its annual convocation ceremony on January 21, 2017. Conferring honorary doctorate is the customary practice of the varsity. However, this year, the varsity is not conferring honorary doctorate as no names have come up before the search panel. Usually, VTU confers honorary doctorates to those who have made a significant contribution in various fields.

Karisiddappa, Vice-Chancellor of VTU, revealed that Prem Krishna, Chairman of Research Council, Central Building Research Institute or CBRI Roorkee would deliver the convocation address. The convocation ceremony will be presided over by Chancellor of VTU, Vajubhai R. Vala. Basavaraj Rayaraddi, Minister of Higher Education, will also be present on the occasion.

Chancellor of VTU will confer degrees to postgraduates and graduates of the academic year 2015-16. A total number of 57,712 students will receive B.Tech/ B.E degrees, and 4,260 students will receive MBA degrees. 66 research scholars will be conferred Ph.D. degrees, and one student will receive a dual degree. Apart from these, M.Tech, MCA, M.Arch and M.Sc (Engineering) students who graduated in the year, 2015-16 will also receive degrees.

Among all the prize winners, Pranv.P of B.E Civil Engineering will receive a total number of 11 medals and one cash prize for securing highest marks in all the eight semesters.
