What is NExT Exam That Will Replace NEET PG 2023?

National Exit Test (NExT) is a common exit exam held for medical graduates to allow them practice medicine in their respective fields or pursue higher education.
What is NExT Exam?
NExT exam will establish a Standardized Education system for admissions and procurement of medical licenses throughout the country.
Reason Behind Introducing NExT
NExT Step 1 regular exam will tentatively begin in 2nd week of December 2023. Similarly, NExT Step 2 Regular will start in March 2024. More details on NExT exam out soon.
NExT Exam Dates
● UG medical graduates from recognized institutions
● Foreign medical graduates from NMC-recognized colleges
● Students with medical degree to pursue observership, etc.
NExT Exam Eligibility Criteria
● Exam will be held in two parts - NExT 1 and NExT 2
● NExT 1 is an MCQ-based test
● NExT 2 comprises Viva Voce for qualified aspirants
NExT Exam Pattern
Main syllabus of NExT exam apart from UG subjects covers:
● Medicine & allied subjects
● Obstetrics & Gynaecology
● Surgery & allied subjects
● Otorhinolaryngology
● Paediatrics
● Ophthalmology
NExT Exam Syllabus
● Students need minimum 50% marks to clear NExT Step 1
● NExT Step 2 result is declared in the form of pass/ fail
● NExT Supplementary exam will be held for failed candidates
