2nd Kalinga International Film Festival Inaugurated at KIIT

The 2nd Kalinga International Film Festival which is jointly organized byKIIT School of Film & Media Sciencesand KIIT Film Society began on 13th December 2016. It is additionally supported by the Federation of Film Societies of India.

The film festival was inaugurated by well-known film director, Mr. Susant Mishra. Among the other present dignitaries were:

• Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS
• Prof. Himanshu Khatua, CEO, KIIT School of Film and Media Sciences
• Prof. P. P. Mathur, VC, KIIT University
• Dr. Sucheta Priyabadini, Director, Students Affairs, KIIT
• MD, Kalinga TV

While addressing the gathering, Mr. Mishra shared his opinion about how films are born in the mind and die on paper. Further, they are reborn in the studios. KIIT, in its operations, provides a large number of facilities to its students for the development of their creativity skills in various fields, in addition to the regular course.

As a result of such nurturing and provisions, given to the students, they have been able to excel in various fields. Some success stories of KIIT alumnus are as follows:

• Lalit, who is an alumnus of KIIT, is also the Co-producer of Udta Punjab and actor in Impossible Murder etc. At present, he is involved in the production work of Syndicate Queen with Michael Bregman of Bregman Production. The production house is also well known for Scarface, Carlito's Way, Dog Day Afternoon and Bone Collector.
• Amit Pandey, another alumnus of KIIT, is currently working as the project manager of Fox Life, an America-based show.
• Kartik Bhagat, also an alumnus, is a photographer of international repute. He has his own studio named 'Dream Diaries' at Mumbai, which is famous for photography.

As a part of the three-day festival, films from regions like Italy, Latvia, Portugal, Austria, Cyprus and India will be screened. The list is as follows:
