Agniveer Recruitment 2023: The Delhi High Court upheld the Agnipath scheme, which has sparked a lot of controversies lately. Petitions filed against this scheme have been rejected by the court, it was updated today i.e. February 27, 2023. As per some media sources, the judiciary made it clear that the Agnipath scheme was introduced by the center to safeguard national interest and ensure that armed forces are equipped properly. Agniveer Recruitment 2023: Delhi Court Rejects Pleas Against Agnipath Scheme
As part of the Agniveer recruitment process, PM Narendra Modi introduced the Agnipath Scheme on June 14 last year. It was formulated with the supreme objective of hiring youth in the armed forces for a tenure of four years. Well, in regards to the short service term and limited benefits, people protested against the scheme and also sent pleas to the high court to make necessary amendments to the recruitment policy.
The two chief justices Satish Chandra Sharma and Subramonium Prasad rejected the challenges made to Agnipath Scheme and stated that petitioners have no right to raise any question against the scheme. Furthermore, the Union government supported the scheme by arguing that it has been enforced to recruit young people into the armed forces.
Agniveer Recruitment 2023: Overview of Agnipath Scheme
The Agnipath scheme forms an integral part of Agniveer recruitment. The Indian government implemented it on June 14, 2022, intending to infuse young blood into the armed forces. Per norms, recruitment under this scheme is conducted twice a year. Selected candidates are entitled as “Agniveers” who serve a tenure of four years that comprises six months of training and 3.5 years of service.
According to the Agnipath scheme, the Agniveers will not be provided with a pension but will be given a lump sum of around Rs 11.71 lakh at the end of their service tenure. Each year, almost 50,000 Agniveer recruitments are conducted by the government.
