71st All India Commerce Conference to be Held at Osmania University

71st All India Commerce Conference will take place from 20th-22nd December at Osmania University (OU) and it will be hosted by the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE), Indian Commerce Association (ICA) and OU. ICA since its inception in 1947 has been involved in improving the level of management and commerce education in the country apart from the focus on research and development.

Prof V Venkata Ramana, the Vice-Chairman of TSCHE, ICA Conference Secretary Prof H Venkateswarlu, ICA Secretary Prof Narender Kumar and former ICA Secretary General Ravinder Vinayak said in a joint press conference on Tuesday that this three-day event will take place at Osmania University for the fourth time since 1955.

State Chief Secretary S K Joshi, ICA President Prof Subash Garg, Special Chief Secretary Education Ajay Mishra, and a few others will inaugurate the event.

About 1800 delegates are expected to attend the conference from the 28 states of the country, and the conference had received about 1,250 research papers by the scholars and the faculty members, Prof Vinayak said.

Apart from the two Telugu states, approximately 300 delegates from Maharashtra, 100 from Rajasthan, 140 from Karnataka, 200 from Uttar Pradesh and 150 from Bihar will be a part of the conference.

According to Narendra Kumar, the ICA Secretary, the conference will primarily have six areas of focus. The areas are Banking and Insurance: Contemporary Issues and Challenges, Corporate Social Responsibility: Policies and Practices, Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development, Emerging Dimensions in Accounting, Digital Marketing: Opportunities and Implications. Another area of focus apart from this is Empirical Researches in the field of Human Resources Development.

Five best papers from each of these areas will be chosen and the presenters will be awarded gold medals, the remaining ones will get silver medals. The prestigious award known as ‘Professor Samiuddin Memorial ICA Research Scholars’ Award will also be given during the event. Kumar also said that the management will award Prof MM Shah Memorial Award worth Rs. 2,00,000 in cash for outstanding research in business management and commerce.

Apart from this, the Sourabh Shiware Memorial Young Research Award worth Rs. 25,000 will also be handed over. The aim of this award is to motivate and encourage the research scholars engaged in the field of management and commerce. ICA is also likely to become the accreditation body for all management and commerce academic institutions.
