Ananda Mohan College (AMC) Kolkata celebrated its Reunion 'Anandam 2016' on February 27th, 2016. The Reunion Programme was organised by the Alumni Association of Ananda Mohan College.
The College has a vast history of its foundation and it was establishment in the year 1961. The college first started its journey as an undergraduate evening college of North Kolkata. It started in 1961 as the evening branch of City College, Kolkata (also famously known as North City College) and at that time, it was known as City College Evening Section.
City College was originally founded by patriotic and selfless Brahmo leader Ananda Mohan Bose. Later, the City College Evening Section was renamed after its founder as Ananda Mohan College. The College has crossed many decades and has seen many changes. The College is a part of City group colleges administered by Brahmo Samaj Education Society, a registered society, constituted by the Sadharon Brahmo Samaj established in Kolkata. It is one of the oldest and heritage Colleges of Kolkata as well as of West Bengal.
The event held at the Seminar gallery in the College premises. The principal of the College Prof. Pradip Kumar Maiti, Vice- Principal of the College Prof. Debashish Raychaudhari, Secretary of Alumni Association Prof. Abdul Rashid, IQAC Chief of College, Sri Santinath Mondal and many other eminent persons were present at the event.
The Chief Guest of the evening was Sri Dijendranath Sen, a well-known Bengali musician and an eminent alumni of the college who was present at the College as a student in its beginning days. Ex-students of all age bar of each and every year since the days of the 1980s were present at the event.
