Mr. N. Chandra Babu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh laid the foundation stone for the King’s College Hospital of Indo-UK Institute of Health group on August 17, 2017, in Amaravati – New Capital of Andhra Pradesh. Besides making Amaravati as an education destination, the state government is also making all the efforts to make it a medical tourist hub too. The CM of Andhra Pradesh pointed that Amaravati would become a second home for the United Kingdom (UK). The state government has been inviting only eligible organisations and people from across the globe to start their institutes in Amaravati, he added.

Mr. N. Chandra Babu Naidu hoped that people from various countries would come to Amaravati to avail medical services in future. He further announced that the state government allocated 150 acres of land for King’s College Hospital.

King’s College and Hospital is one of the biggest and oldest health care groups in the world. The group will spend over Rs. 1,600 crores only in Amaravati. It will further set up 11 colleges and hospitals in the country by spending Rs. 17,000 crore. For all the colleges and hospitals that the group will set up, Amaravati would be the headquarters for its operations. Conducting research and manufacturing of medical equipment will be carried out from Amaravati. The group is expected to generate employment opportunities for about 10,000 doctors and 25,000 nurses in the country.

Andhra Pradesh CM further mentioned that the state government would set up 20 medical education institutions.
