The Andhra Pradesh government has neglected Health and Medical Sectors in AP State Budget 2016. It did not allocate sufficient funds for the development of government medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh. A paltry Rs.17.20 crore has been earmarked for developing infrastructure in government medical colleges, thereby limiting the enhancement of number of PG seats.

There are only six government colleges in Andhra Pradesh. It is the responsibility of the government to allocate sufficient funds to develop the facilities in these colleges. The Medical Council of India the highest medical education body in the country accords permission to increase the number of seats depending upon the facilities in the college. Otherwise, these colleges have to face a cut in the total number of seats.

There is a Government dental College in Vijayawada which face lack of funds. This college has been established in the year 2008. Since then there were neither any developments nor increase in the number of seats. The intake for Bachelor of Dental Surgery is only 5 seats. The reason for the less number of seats is that there are no proper infrastructure facilities in the college. The Government Dental Hospital which is attached to college also faces the problem of lack of funds.

If this college is developed and the number of seats are to be improved, it would bring drastic changes in the city as there is no other dental college in and around Krishna, Guntur and Prakasham districts.
