Andhra Pradesh Govt. Seeks Additional 150 MBBS Seats
- AP government is seeking approval from MCI for increasing MBBS seats in three government medical colleges.
- The state government has developed the infrastructure necessary for additional seats.
The state government of Andhra Pradesh has soughtadditional 150 MBBS seatsin Government Medical Colleges across the state. The Medical Education Department of Andhra Pradesh has sent a proposal to MCI (Medical Council of India) seeking approval for 150 additional seats inMBBS course.
The state government is seeking approval for the increase in MBBS seats in the following government medical colleges: -

At present, theMCIteams are inspecting the library, infrastructure, labs, hostel and faculty in all the above three colleges. Based on the inspection report, MCI will grant approval for an increase in student intake inMBBS course. According to sources, MCI will sanction the additional seats from the next academic session.
The state government is expecting an increase in intake before the commencement of next academic session. The state government has already taken steps to fill vacant doctors’ post in government medical colleges. On the other hand, the state government has developed the infrastructure necessary for additional seats.

Director of Medical Education – Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Subba Rao gave clarification in this regard. He hoped for a positive response from MCI after the completion of the inspection. These medical colleges have mandatory infrastructure facilities for increasing seats inUG and PG medical courses, he revealed.
