AP and Telangana Government to Implement Semester System in B.Ed

The government of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have taken the decision to implement semester system in B.Ed course. The decision has been taken after the Department of Higher Education of Telangana interacted with the principals of various B.Ed colleges across the state. The department did not agree on the proposal made by private colleges to cancel semester system.

The heads of various colleges opined that various problems would arise if the semester system is introduced for B.Ed course. Already, there has been a rapid decline in the number of students opting for B.Ed course across the two states as the government extended the duration of the course to two years. At this juncture, implementing semester system will not yield positive results.

However, the department refused the appeal made by the colleges. All the colleges have to implement semester system. Following the decision of Telangana government, Andhra Pradesh too decided to implement the semester system.

Already, the government of Telangana implemented Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) for all UG and PG courses. The first semester examinations for the first-year degree students will commence from the third week of November.
