In a bid to strengthen the ties between Australia and India, the Government of Australia, through the 2020 New Colombo plan, will facilitate study and work-based projects being undertaken by 1,607 students from various Australian Universities in India.

Rod Hilton, the Acting High Commissioner to India, stated that India has been one of the popular destinations among Australian students under the 2020 New Colombo Plan. He further stated that in the coming year, Australian Universities will assemble students for the purpose of undertaking 64 developmental projects, which also include the development of Physical Education programmes.

Hilton stated that Australia is trying to aid its students who aspire to expand their knowledge on the business environment as well as the culture and people of India. This will help in building a stronger relationship between Australia and India.

The Government of Australia took the initiative of introducing the New Colombo Plan to provide the students with the opportunities to expand their cross-cultural knowledge. The New Colombo Plan will also focus on developing the experiences of the students which will play a crucial role in “today’s globally connected workforce”.
