CBSE Class 10 Exams: 33% Aggregate in Practical & Theory Required to Pass
- CBSE has passed a special measure that the current batch of class 10 students will have to score 33% aggregate marks.
- Students will have to secure 33% aggregate in theory and practical exams combined in order to pass the exam.
TheCBSE boardhas announced that students who are appearing for Class 10 board exams will have to score33% aggregate marksin practical and theory exams. The announcement has come as a relief for CBSE Class 10 Students as earlier they were required to score 33% marks intheoryandpractical examsseparately in order to pass the exams.
The decision has been made in order to ease the evaluation process for class 10 students as CBSE is reviving theclass 10 board examsafter several years.
Anita Karwal,Chairman of the Boardadded that this measure will be applicable only for the current batch of class 10 students. From 2019 onwards, the students will have to score 33% marks in both theory as well as practical exams in the exam.

Thepassing criteriahave been changed for the current batch as they have been following a different assessment process till class 9. The decision was finalized at theexam committeeof the board meeting that was held recently.
Till 2017, the board had followed theComprehensive and Continuous Evaluation (CCE)system where only 30% of the total marks were presented by the CBSE in the mark sheet. Last year, CBSE scrapped the CCE and replaced with the old board exam pattern.

However, CBSE added that this 33% criterion will not be applicable for thevocational subjectslisted in Annexure I. Karwal further elaborated that internal assessment component of these subjects is of 50 marks, therefore they will not beexemptedand candidates will have to score 33% for internal as well as external assessment.
