After denying rumours on NEET-UG data leak, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has trashed report on the increase in marks of 50% Class 12 students after re-evaluation. The national-level education board confirmed that the report was just a rumour and is baseless. The board further indicated that the marks of only 4,632 students were changed after the re-evaluation.

CBSE revealed that 66,876 candidates applied for re-evaluation, and the marks of only4,632 students were changed. In all, the overall percentage of students who witnessed changes in marks was just 6.9%. Therefore, the report regarding an increase in marks of 50% Class 12 students was misleading. CBSE urged the students not to believe in such baseless rumours.

An official of CBSE pointed out that only 3,200 candidates witnessed a hike in marks out of 4,632 students. There was only 1 – 5 marks increase in the marks of 3,200 students, which means that there weren’t many errors in the evaluation process, he added.

Earlier, CBSE initiated action against 200 teachers who were responsible for evaluation errors in Class 12 board exams. With a motive to regulate evaluation errors further, CBSE will strengthen the system by providing more training to evaluators and teachers along with technological intervention. Even though experienced teachers take part in the evaluation process, there will be at least 5 – 7% errors and CBSE is planning to minimise those errors too.
