CBSE to Announce NEET 2016 Results on Aug 17

Results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2016 for medical aspirants will be announced on 17th August 2016, that is tomorrow. The results that will be declared will be for both Phase 1 (AIPMT) and Phase 2 of NEET.

According to the verdict of Supreme Court in 2013, the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the Dental Council of India could not control undergraduate (MBBS, BDS) and postgraduate medical admissions as it lacked the authority to do so.

However, earlier this year, SC made NEET a mandatory exam for all medical aspirants of the country. This decision was made just three days before the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) was to be conducted in May 2016.

Following this, AIPMT that was held on May 1, 2016 was considered as NEET 1 and a separate exam named NEET 2 was conducted on July 24, 2016 for the candidates who did not appear in the first phase of the exam.

A total of six lakh candidates appeared for NEET 1, whereas four lakh candidates took NEET 2.

The answer keys for NEET 1 and NEET 2 have already been released by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

There were reports of paper-leak of NEET 2 exam paper, a petition for a re-test was filed in the SC which was further deferred.
