CBSE to Soon Start Digital Evaluation of OMR Sheets
R.K. Chaturvedi, Chairman of CBSE, explained that Digi Scoring would allow the data of the examinee to be secured in a format called ‘temper proof’.
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) revealed that it would start the digital evaluation of OMR sheets through a system called Digi Scoring. The new system will avoid the current practice of transporting OMR sheets manually from each and every examination centre to CBSE which was a long and time taking process. Moreover, these OMR sheets have to reach CBSE from the examination centres with utmost confidentiality and care.

R.K. Chaturvedi, Chairman of CBSE, explained that Digi Scoring would allow the data of the examinee to be secured in a format called ‘temper proof’. The process saves the time, and the OMR sheets will be scanned and evaluated in the presence of a board representative, centre superintendent, four witnesses and centre observer. After the evaluation, the centre superintendents must click the images of evaluation from each examination centre and further, these images will be uploaded to a central server immediately.
In simple terms, the OMR sheets will be evaluated in the examination centres which makes the system more comfortable, flexible and cost efficient.

Recently, the education board of Bihar also revealed that they are going to evaluate Class 12 answer scripts digitally. The board has also started giving training on the evaluation system.
Similarly, APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University also took the initiative of evaluating answer scripts of semester examinations digitally. The examinations commenced on December 6, 2016, and it is expected that the varsity will evaluate 20,000 answer scripts digitally.
