Conference to Discuss Draft of New Education Policy at Coimbatore on February 4

The 18^th Conference of Association of Indian College Principals will take place at Coimbatore on February 4, 2017. The members who are going to attend the conference will discuss the draft of New Education Policy which was released by Centre recently.

It is a two-day conference, and the proceedings of this conference will be submitted to the government of Tamil Nadu and Ministry of Higher Education. The discussions will also take place on Role of Higher Education in National or International Development.

K. Sundararaman, CEO Sri Krishna Institutions and organising committee of the conference revealed that around 300 principals from 17 states would suggest the education ministry have a transparent mechanism for fee collection and admission procedure. The recommendations will help to design the future Higher Education in the country.

S.P. Velumai, Minister of Municipal Administration, will inaugurate the conference along with Minister of Higher Education, Mr. Anbalagan. The organising committee has made all the arrangements for the conference.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a deadline for HRD Ministry to finalise the New Education Policy by the end of 2017. The government’s plan is to implement the New Education Policy from the academic session 2018-19. However, finalising NEP is a challenging task for the HRD Ministry as it has to hold discussions with the heads of various institutes, stakeholders, state governments and others. If NEP is implemented by 2018, the education scenario in India will witness tremendous changes.
