To contribute to the Indian sectors of Infrastructure, Education and Governance, the Deakin University of Australia have proposed to become the knowledge partner of India. The university is not only the largest university in Australia but also among the 1% of the top universities recognised worldwide and has a long legacy of academia.

While speaking with the journalists of Indo-Asian News Service, the Vice-Chancellor of Deakin University, Prof Iain Martin informed that the varsity is ambitiously looking forward to roll out online courses for students worldwide. He added that Deakin is helping the Indian students to get associated with these online courses. He claimed that online courses are emerging as one of the most important academic platforms.

Explaining the priority areas where the University aims to expand in India, he said: “Deakin University is exploring collaborations with the Government of India to enable knowledge transfer snd capacity building for both India and Australia, in priority areas of research like: Integrated Energy Program; Water Management; Agri-Tech; Cybersecurity; Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and Data Science; Advanced Materials and Manufacturing; and Nanobiotechnology.”

He further informed the varsity aims to expand in India and explore partnerships with the Government of India which will enable knowledge transfer and capacity building for both the countries. The priority areas of research include Integrated Water Management, Agri-Tech, Energy Program, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cybersecurity, Advanced Materials and Manufacturing, Internet of Things (IoT) and Data Science and Nano-biotechnology.

The university also offers a scholarship covering 20% to 100% of the total tuition fees. he scholarship named the ‘Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Scholarship’ scheme is given to the students of the South Asian countries.

The University will be celebrating its 25th Year of Association with India, to build the ties more firmly, the above-mentioned policies and vision are being taken forward. This step will strengthen the diplomatic relations within the two countries alongside building academic bridges.
