This year, the major focus of the competition will be on enabling the participants to focus on applying the death penalty to the offence of sedition. Amitav Roy, Supreme Court Judge, will attend the event as the chief guest and will also inaugurate the competition.

Moot Court is a competition where law students argue imaginary cases for practice. It is an extracurricular activity for most of the law schools. In this competition, students will take part in stimulated court proceedings which will involve drafting memorials and participating in oral argument. The competition does not include actual testimony by witness or cross-examination or presentation. Moot Court only focuses on the application of law to a common set of imaginary facts that are introduced by competitors.

In most of the moot competitions, two speakers represent each side and sometimes the third member may be called as "of counsel" who may be seated with the speakers or in the audience. Each speaker talks for 10-25 minutes. Preliminary rounds will be conducted initially to shortlist the teams followed by knockout or elimination rounds.
