Freeze after JoSAA Seat Allotment 2023 Round 1: The seat allotment result for the first round of JoSAA 2023 counselling has been released on June 30, 2023, at 10 AM. Upon securing a seat at any affiliated institute, the candidates will have to complete the online reporting process until July 04, 2023 (5 PM). During the reporting process, candidates can either accept or reject their allotted seat.

If rejected, participation in the next round will be allowed. However, if the candidate opts out of the counselling, then he/she will not be allowed for any further rounds. For seat acceptance, the Freeze (no change in seat allotment), Float (institute and branch change), and Slide (only branch change in the same institute) options are available. 

Freeze after JoSAA Seat Allotment 2023 Round 1

As the selection of the Freeze option will indicate no further change in seat allotment or participation in the next round, it is important to know all the instructions related to JoSAA Round 1 2023 Freeze option.

• The candidates who have been allotted their ‘First Preference’ as per the option form will have their seat acceptance status as ‘Auto-Freezed’ i.e., Preference #1 allotted candidates will have no choice but to take admission at the allotted institute.
• Preference #1 allotted candidates will NOT be allowed to participate in further counselling rounds, even if they do not confirm their admission at the allotted institute and thus lose their seat allotment.
• The candidates who were not allotted the first preference but are satisfied with the current allocation can also choose to ‘Freeze’ their seat. Once frozen, the candidates must take admission at the allotted institute and if failed to do so, their allotment will be cancelled. Such candidates will also not be allowed to participate in the upcoming rounds.
• Once the ‘Freeze’ option is selected, it is mandatory for the candidates to pay the seat acceptance fees. It is Rs 20,000/- for reserved categories (SC/ ST/ Gen-PwD/ Gen-EWS-PwD/ OBC-NCL-PwD/ SC-PwD/ ST-PwD). For all other categories, the seat acceptance fee is Rs 40,000/-.
• If a candidate Freezes the seat but fails to pay the seat acceptance fee within the specified timeline (July 4, until 5 PM), then the allotted seat of such candidates will stand cancelled and so will their eligibility for participation in the next rounds.
• It is also to be noted that if any queries by JoSAA officers are raised against the document verification, the candidate must respond to the same within the deadline (July 5, until 5 PM). Otherwise, the provisionally allotted seat of the candidate will be cancelled and the candidate will not be allowed to participate in any further counselling rounds.
