FYJC Admission 2019: Over 1.7 Lakh Seats Vacant After Three Admission Rounds
Even after the FYJC Seats have been increased, more than 1.7 lakh seats are reported vacant from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region which is concerning the associated authorities.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) has reported more than 1.70 lakh vacant seats in first-year junior colleges (FYJC) even after the 3rd round of admissions. Among these seats, more than 1.24 lakh seats are for general category and 43,258 are reserved quota seats which are reserved for minority and other reserved categories have been left vacant. These seats will not be made open for any student in the upcoming rounds.
On the other hand, there are only about 40 thousand students who are yet to secure their admission in the college of their preference. This hints at a huge number of seats to be left vacant after the completion of regular rounds.
An official from the education department has said that Students can check the vacant seats and they will be able to change their choices on the basis of cut-offs in the 3rd round. Quota seats which are surrendered are now added to the general pool for admissions of general students, which would benefit the students.
For modifying their admission choices, students can fill up an online form before 10th August 2019 for the special merit list which is scheduled to be released on 14th August 2019. The remaining seats will be allotted on the basis of the first-come-first-served method after that, which will start on 20th August 2019.

A principal of a suburban college said while on the condition of anonymity that the demand is concentrated only in a handful of top colleges. Takers are not being found for hundreds of seats in other FYJCs.
