Haryana and Switzerland to Join Hands for Exploring the Hospitality Sector

Possibilities of an MoU between Haryana and Switzerland to explore education prospects in the field of hospitality is in the offing, said an official from Government of Haryana. Both parties have agreed to consider the collaboration for imparting training to students in the field of hotel management.

The step has been taken to enhance the employment opportunities in the hospitality industry. A delegation of five members led by Switzerland’s Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs and Labour, Bruno Sauter met the Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar regarding the same on August 10, 2017.

The delegation also showed keen interest in collaborating with Haryana in other departments such as Information Technology (IT), Agriculture, Education, Sports and Financial Services. Both the parties will also encourage study centres that offer specialised courses.

Shedding light on the plans, Sauter said that once the MoU is signed, students from Haryana will be able to enrol for specialised courses of duration six months to one year. These short term specialised hotel management programmes will be offered by reputed universities of Switzerland.

Students who seek these programmes but cannot travel to Switzerland will be provided with online training and learning opportunities, Sauter added. He further added that the faculty from Swiss universities will also visit institutes in Harnaya to give lectures and guide students.

Switzerland, despite being a relatively smaller country, has an extremely flourished tourism and hospitality industry. Having a population of eight million people, the country also offers good programmes in the field of finance, IT, milk production and other fields of education.
