The HRD minister, who was in Bareilly at an event organised by Akhil Bharatiya Brahmin Mahasabha, told that it is true that there is a huge shortage of teachers in IndIa. It happened due to a long backlog of posts lying vacant over the years. They are working to appoint more faculty members soon. The ministry has identified that there is a need for nearly 10 lakh teachers across the country in both higher educational institutions and schools.

Citing about the revamp of education policy, the minister said that the education policy of the country is not properly implemented as it was first made in 1962. Only it was revised in 1976. Over the years no successive government took the initiative to revise it. They are now inviting suggestions to introduce changes to cope with the current challenges and come out with a new education policy.

To improve the standard of higher education Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) scheme has been introduced in the country. Apart from that, they are also working to connect students with facilities offered at international levels through satellite. Students will be able to learn latest techniques and they will granted an additional 20% marks for this.
