HRD ministry coming up with new test to assess IIT aspirants

The way entrance examinations to IIT and many other top institutes is conducted will be different now. Now Human Resource Development Ministry is working with an aim to create a new institute named - ‘National Authority for Testing’ (NAT). This will be taken prior to the Joint Entrance Examination, to gauge the ability of the candidates

In next months, the NAT to be established, with the primitive objective to conduct the tests in the second half of 2016. In fact, the basis of the score that is obtained in this test is essential while shortlisting aspirants for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE - Advanced) 2017.

The Human Resource Development Ministry will soon approach the Union Cabinet for getting a nod to set up the testing agency.

Close to four lakh aspirants will be shortlisted for the JEE through the testing services. The JEE is designed to test the candidates’ knowledge in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics.

According to the committee, the ranks will be given to 40,000 candidates, and after the common counseling, they can seek the admission to the NITs and IITs.

The Ashok Mishra-led Committee of Eminent Persons (CEP), submitted its report to the Government on 5 November 2015 and targeted at weaning away the IIT candidates from the institutes providing coaching for the elite examination.
