IIIT B and IIM B Joins Hands to Promote Start-Ups

A MoU has been signed between International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT B ) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM B) in order to provide its students with a blend of excellence in management and technology with the start-ups being incubated in their respective innovation centres.

On the same Professor Suresh Bhagavatula, Chairperson, Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Development, NS Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning at IIMB said “IIM B and IIIT B, from their collective experience in nurturing entrepreneurs and start-ups over the past decade, recognize their mutual interest in positively influencing the technology start-up ecosystem in India and the importance of collaborating with each other to nurture early stage technology ventures and help them in shaping appropriate business models,”

In order to promote technical startups and young business entrepreneurs, both the institutes have collaborated to provide students with perfect knowledge of both technology and management. This will help young minds to come up with good startup ideas which will further bloom in th e Indian start-up landscape. “I am sure this collaboration will be a win-win situation for both the institutions and the start-ups,” said Professor R Srinivasan, Director Incharge, IIM Bangalore.

Professor S Sadagopan, Director, IIIT B, added that he believes that it is a big and one of its kind thing for two institutions to come together for the purpose of promoting startups in India . He also said that this was a much needed change in the education sector.

IIIT B and IIM B, both have been promoting India-based startups in their own ways.

IIIT B has an innovation center in its campus for young minds to brain storm their ideas and come up with something unique. This center has been at IIIT B since the year 2009 and has been successful in incubating 17 start-up companies till now. These startups have made their contribution in areas like healthcare, transportation and energy by providing with various innovative IT based products.

Similarly, IIM B has the NS Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (NSRCEL) which is an open incubation centre that nurtures early stage start-ups and currently incubates 18 companies focused on providing scalable and sustainable solutions.

Professor R Srinivasan, Director Incharge, IIM B D V Jagadish, CEO, Outreach & Innovation Centre, IIIT B, Rajiv Sawhney, COO, NSRCEL, Professor K Kumar, Chairperson, Academic Programmes, NSRCEL and Professor Ramesh Sundararaman, COO, Innovation Centre, IIIT B and founder of I-MACX were also present on the occasion. Professor S Sadagopan and his team from IIIT B who came to the IIMB campus for the signing of the MoU revisited their long association with IIM B.
