IIM-B Introduced Massive Open Online Course

In a move to boost the online education, the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) announces a new digital learning initiative - Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) based online certificate series - titled 'Fundamentals of Business Management.'

IIM Bangalore is now among the first few management schools in the world to offer such a MOOC-based series of six core management courses.

“The online programme aims to equip learners with basic business and management skills needed to compete in today's business landscape. The course series will include the following six business and management MOOCs: Introduction to People Management, Introduction to Operations Management, Introduction to Accounting -1, Introduction to Corporate Finance, Introduction to Business Strategy and Introduction to Marketing Essentials,” said a top official.

These MOOCs will be delivered through the edX platform over the next few months and will offer learners the opportunity to study management concepts from highly rated IIM faculty in a completely open, online mode. To increase the reach of these courses IIMB is also planning to make these courses available in Hindi.

"IIM Bangalore is leveraging the massive scale and reach of MOOCs to provide basic business skills to everyone who needs them. To make our country's grand vision of 'Make in India' and 'Digital India' a reality, education is key. Our MOOCs programme, especially the Fundamentals of Business Management, will bring high-quality management education and a lifelong learning opportunity for many who would otherwise have been unable to access a top management school,” said the director of the Institute.

Our learners have told us that business and management courses are some of the most in-demand subjects they seek to leverage edX MOOCs for increasing the skills and knowledge so central to succeeding in their careers. Created by one of the world's leading business schools, IIMB's new XSeries Program will provide learners around the world an important credential to improve their job and career prospects,” said another official of the institute.
